How to auto-DM a link when someone comments on Instagram

You have seen the posts: "comment LINK and I will DM it to you." Here is how to set that up so it happens automatically, every time, without you watching your comments all day.

What you need first

You need an Instagram professional account, either a Business or Creator account. This is a Meta requirement for comment and message automation, not a preference. Switching a personal account to professional is free and takes a minute in the Instagram app.

ChatSnag connects through Instagram Login directly, so you do not need a Facebook Page.

The steps

  1. Connect your Instagram. Link your professional account to ChatSnag. The connection uses Meta's official Instagram API, so you are not handing over your password to anything.
  2. Set your keyword. Choose the word people will comment, for example "LINK" or "GUIDE". Matching is simple and predictable.
  3. Set the DM. Write the message and the link you want commenters to receive.
  4. Publish and post. Put up your reel or post and invite people to comment your keyword.

When someone comments that keyword, they get your DM automatically. Instagram allows one private reply per comment, sent within seven days of the comment, and ChatSnag follows that rule exactly.

A worked example

Say you run a weekly newsletter and you post a reel about your latest issue. You set the keyword to "ISSUE" and the DM to a short note plus your signup link. Someone comments "ISSUE" under the reel. Within moments they get a DM with your link, and you see that send land in your activity log. If a send cannot go out, you see the reason instead of a silent failure.

Why the visibility matters

A comment-to-DM tool is only worth anything if the DM actually arrives. ChatSnag shows you every delivery as it happens, so you are never guessing whether your links went out. That is the whole point: you can watch it work.
